CHENNAI: Central Chennai MP
Dayanidhi Maran on Friday urged the Railways to expedite the Elephant Gate railway overbridge construction work quickly.
After inspecting the bridge, which is being reconstructed, the MP told reporters that the railway minister in a reply to him in Parliament had said it had finished all work. “But in reality, their (railways) portion was not complete fully,” he said.
He said people were suffering because of the delay in completing the work.
In the press meet, railway officials said they had placed two girders and by the end of June, they would have placed two more. "By September, we will place the remaining ones and the bridge work will be finished by December," a railways official said.
Work started in 2019.
