Newsmax Admits It Was All About Money

The company’s claim of censorship by DirecTV was always false political cover.

Newsmax and DirecTV have settled their commercial dispute over licensing fees, and we’re happy to see Newsmax Media CEO Chris Ruddy’s tacit admission that his political pressure campaign was really cover for a fight over money.

On Wednesday Newsmax and DirecTV issued a joint press release announcing that they had reached a multi-year “mutually beneficial agreement” settling their carriage dispute. “Newsmax recognizes and appreciates that DIRECTV clearly supports diverse voices, including conservative ones,” said Mr. Ruddy.
