Delilah seeks FIR against Delhi tourists
Panaji: Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo on Thursday demanded that the Goa police file a first information report (FIR) against the tourists from Delhi who allegedly assaulted locals with stones and blows at an Anjuna-based hotel earlier this month. The police said it will examine her complaint and act accordingly.
Lobo, in whose constituency the incident occurred, met North Goa SP Nidhin Valsan to demand “immediate action” against the Delhi tourists.
She was accompanied by family members of the local youths who were assaulted during the incident. So far, the Anjuna police have arrested five locals for allegedly assaulting the tourists. “They have submitted a complaint and have mentioned that the local youths were assaulted by the tourists. We will see if any legal or cognisable offence has been made out and will take action accordingly,” Valsan said and added that the Siolim legislator showed him CCTV footage of the incident at the hotel.
Lobo also said she would meet the CM regarding the fact that the tourists’ blood alcohol levels had not been checked by the police. tnn
