Congress MP Rahul Gandhi landed in Delhi after being convicted by a Surat court in a defamation case. Surat District Court held him guilty in the criminal defamation case filed against him over his 'Modi surname' remark. He was later granted bail. Hundreds of Congress workers reached the airport to show their solidarity with the leader. Senior Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said that "the judgement was not based on facts." Several Congress activists were staging protests against his conviction across the nation.
