India's daily COVID-19 cases highest in 140 days with 1,300 new infections

India has seen a surge in COVID-19 cases with 1,300 new infections reported, the highest in 140 days, according to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry. Active cases have also risen to 7,605, while the death toll has increased to 5,30,816, with three deaths reported in Karnataka, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.46%, and the weekly positivity rate was 1.08%. With a total of 4.46 crore cases, active cases now make up only 0.02% of the total infections in the country.

India's COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.79%, with 4,41,60,997 people having recovered from the disease. The case fatality rate is 1.19%.

Additionally, 92.06 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted so far, and the nationwide vaccination drive has administered 220.65 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
