Delhi BJP on Thursday got its full-time president in Virendra Sachdeva, the first party leader from Punjabi background in the last 13 years to hold the post. Six policemen have been suspended and an FIR lodged was against them following the death of an infant, who was allegedly crushed under police boots during a raid in Jharkhand's Giridih district, an official said on Thursday. The policemen were suspended after an initial inquiry, and the FIR was registered against them based on a complaint by the newborn's family members, he said. (PTI)

Delhi LG transfers 19 IPS, DANIPS officers
In a major reshuffle, Delhi lieutenant governor V K Saxena on Thursday transferred 19 IPS and DANIPS officers in the national capital, an official order said. Sindhu Pillai, a 2001 batch IPS officer, has been appointed as joint commissioner of the Economic Offences Wing, while 2010 batch IPS officer Rajender Singh Sagar has been made the DCP of the First Battalion, the order stated. Delhi: A 10-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by a peon working in her MCD school and his associates on March 14. The school authorities reported the assault on March 22. The girl was taken to LBS Hospital for medical examination. The accused (54) sedated her and gang raped her with fellow associates. Jharkhand cops accused of killing infant during raid
A four-day-old infant was allegedly trampled to death by cops during a raid at a village in Jharkhand’s Giridih.Cops had gone to arrest Bhusan Pandey, an absconder wanted in an assault case. “We heard a knock at the door and when we realised it’s police, we all left, but my son was left on the bed. Cops searched the house and left. When we went in, we found the boy lying still,” said the infant’s mother. His father Ramesh said, “He died after being trampled under the boots of some cops, who didn’t notice him.”
Embassies can’t refuse passport renewal citing pending cases: Andhra Pradesh HC
The Andhra Pradesh high court in a recent judgment said authorities like the Indian embassies cannot reject applications to renew a passport merely on the ground that the applicant has a pending criminal case in India.It clarified that though the passport authority has the power to refuse renewal under Section 6 (2) of Passport Act, it can consider the case if the applicant produces an NOC from concerned court.
