Cos: Met all criteria, but disqualified from sanitation bidding
Gurgaon: Five private agencies that were disqualified by MCG from participating in a tender for sanitation have raised objections and alleged that the corporation is favouring other firms. Questioning their disqualification, the companies said they fulfil the corporation’s criteria and alleged that MCG is favouring other firms which don’t have any relevant experience in the field. A total of 15 private agencies had participated in the contract bid, of which five were disqualified.
MCG officials said the process of awarding contracts is in the “advanced stage”, but the final decision has not yet been taken. The city has been divided into eight zones for sanitation. Eight companies, one for each zone, will be awarded contracts for sanitation.
The disqualified agencies were called for a meeting by MCG officials on Tuesday after they submitted a complaint to the commissioner.
The civic body is now scrutinising the documents submitted by the five agencies to determine whether the tender should be cancelled and a new one floated again. The firms have demanded that the tender be cancelled.
The sanitation tender is estimated to cost around Rs 250 crore and includes road sweeping, cleaning and uprooting of weeds across the entire city. The selected firms will be awarded the contract for two years.
“Around 15 agencies had applied, of which five were disqualified. Since these agencies have raised objections, we called them for a meeting on Tuesday. Their tender documents are being scrutinised. A decision on whether the tender will be cancelled and floated again or the ongoing process will continue will be taken after that. The five companies have alleged that the tender documents of the other companies were incomplete and they don’t hold the relevant experience. We will take a decision in the next two to three days,” MCG officiating chief engineer Radhe Shyam Sharma said.
“We have sufficient experience in this field and our company is also financially strong. But your department has selected some new bidders which don’t have experience. These companies don’t have proper documents as per bid,” read the complaint submitted by one of the companies on March 20.
“The question of favouring other companies could have come up if MCG had given the contracts to them. But we haven’t yet awarded the contracts,” said a senior official.
