KANPUR: After registration of an FIR against self-styled spiritual healer -Santosh Singh Bhadauria alias Karauli Sarkar Baba of Lavkush Ashram for assaulting Noida's doctor Siddharth Chaudhary, the police have initiated an investigation in the matter.
According to the police sources the investigating team is all set to record the statements of Santosh Singh Bhadauria alias Karauli Baba after issuing notice to him.
DCP South Salman Taj Patil said that the police have started an investigation in this regard. "Efforts are also being made to procure the CCTV footage of the day of the incident from the ashram. We will scan the CCTV footage to ascertain the accusations. Further action will be taken on the basis of the evidence," said Patil further.
APP Ghatampur Dinesh Shukla, however, said that efforts are being made to contact the complainant -Noida-based doctor Siddharth Chaudhary as well. "We will make the medical report of the complainant a part of the case. If the medical report is private then legal opinion will be taken and will be included in the investigation.
Statements of the doctor and his family will be recorded. If he does not come to Kanpur, the investigators will go to Noida to record his statement. Action will be taken further on the basis of the facts which come to the fore." Siddharth, a native of Noida Sector-48, stated in his complaint that he was facing some family issues. Meanwhile, he came across some videos of Karauli Sarkar Baba on YouTube.
In the videos, the 'Baba' was seen solving the problem of people with his 'miraculous' powers. Impressed by the videos, he reached the ashram in Bidhnu on February 22, 2023, with his father V S Chowdhary, mother Renu Chowdhary and wife Priyanka.
In the FIR, Siddharth stated that after reaching the ashram, a receipt of Rs 2,600 was made as per the procedure advised by the sevadars. After this, they were taken before the 'Baba' at 4 pm. The 'Baba' started reciting some mantras and then asked Siddharth if he was feeling better, but he said no.
This infuriated the 'Baba' and later on his instructions, his sevadars and bouncers locked Siddharth in a room and thrashed him causing injuries in his nose and head.
