Three killed as 2 cars collide in Tamil Nadu's Pudukottai

TRICHY: Three people, including a minor girl, died when two cars collided near Mathur in Pudukottai late on Tuesday night.
The deceased have been identified as Kathir, 28, Sumathi, 48, and Mahisha Sri, 12, from Aranthangi in Pudukkottai district.
According to police sources, Manikandan, 28, his mother Vellaiyammal, 48, his wife Neelaveni, 24, his niece Mahisha Shri, 10, and mother-in-law Sumathi, 48, were returning to Aranthangi from Salem by car after a temple visit on Tuesday night. Kathir was driving the car.
When their vehicle neared Mathur, a car with six passengers which was coming from Rameswaram to Salem, collided with it.
The three people were killed on the spot in the impact, while the others were severely injured. They were admitted to hospital.
The Mathur police in Pudukkottai district are investigating.
