Users can access Apple Music the company’s audio-streaming service, to listen to on-demand music or existing playlists. The Cupertino-based tech giant developed this platform which is compatible with all Apple devices including -- iPhones, iPad, MacBooks, Apple TV, HomePod and more. This music streaming service is reportedly posing privacy concerns for some users. According to a report by MacRumors, multiple Apple Music users have complained about a new bug on Reddit. Users have reported that this new bug randomly shows other people's playlists in their music libraries in the Apple Music app.
Apple Music bug: Affected devices The reports also mention that unrecognised playlists are appearing only in the Music app for iPhone. However, the Apple Music app on macOS is still unaffected.
Reports about this bug first started appearing in February. This suggests that the problem might be related to the iOS 16.3.1 update. The latest iOS update also included a bug fix for the iCloud settings.
How this Apple Music bug is affecting users As per the report, a Reddit user (adh1003) has compiled several reports from users. These users have complained about the appearance of strange playlists in their app that they are not able to recognise. The report mentions that some other Reddit users are also facing a similar problem.
In some cases, users have reported that unknown playlists are getting merged with their existing playlists. Meanwhile, in other cases, users' playlists have gone missing or have been replaced by unrecognised ones.
Moreover, some users have also claimed that their Apple accounts have been hacked. The report states that the more probable cause of the Apple Music issue is expected to be an unspecified problem with the company’s iCloud server.
Apple Music bug: Temporary workaround However, some users have also suggested a temporary workaround to fix the issue. To solve this issue temporarily, users can try removing their synced iCloud account from the Apple Music platform and then re-sync it.
To do this, users have to navigate to the issue Apple ID option under the Settings section. Here, users have to select the Show All option in the iCloud segment. Users have to keep in mind that this temporary solution has worked for a few users, but not for all.
Some users have also contacted Apple support to resolve this issue. However, none of these users has reported success, the report adds.
This issue is similar to another iCloud bug that occurred in 2022. In this case, some users reported videos and images from strangers started appearing in their Photos library.
