BBMKU signs deal to start courses on cyber defence

DHANBAD: The Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University (BBMKU), Dhanbad, signed an MoU with the Cyber Vidyapeeth Foundation to start diploma and PG diploma courses in cyber defence from the coming session.
The MoU was signed by BBMKU university vice-chancellor Sukadev Bhoi with the chairman of the Cyber Vidyapeeth Foundation, S S Garuryar, on Monday.
Talking to TOI, Bhoi said the online courses will be self-financed, and job-oriented and is aimed at creating a market-ready talent pool of cyber-defence experts to make India a cyber-resilient country besides equipping the students with the much-needed skill in the cyber world. Graduates having passion and zeal to serve the nation for cyber defence and security must join, he said.
He also said informed the institute's management is trying its best to make BBMKU one of the top universities of eastern India through improvement in the quality of education and the introduction of several job-oriented courses shortly.
The university is also working on plans to introduce courses in Jyotish, Karmakand, Vastu Shastra besides law, and MBA soon, he said and informed that students would be provided coaching for civil service and NET exams through the career development centre of the university.
"We are also working on plans to make teachers adopt comparatively weaker students and work on their overall development," Bhoi said.
The university, which will be celebrating its sixth foundation day on March 23 in its newly constructed building, has received Rs 348 crores for infrastructure in the first phase during which construction of the administrative and academic building is completed.
The new academic block has nearly 394 classrooms with all basic amenities and the 17 PG departments at present running in the PK Roy Memorial College would be shifted to the new building by the end of this month, the vice-chancellor said, adding that all PG exams along with the exams of vocational courses would be conducted in the new building.
