Mysuru/Hassan: Chamarajanagar excise department officials on Tuesday raided a CL-2 class licence shop in Yelandur town and seized Rs 8.23 lakh worth of liquor and beer and took up a case.
Ahead of the election, excise department officials have warned all licensees and taken an undertaking from previous offenders and rule violators. Besides, they have taken up measures to prevent the illegal sale and distribution of liquor.
According to the DC of excise, Chamarajanagar, between February 18 and March 20, the department conducted 116 raids and booked 85 cases for violation of norms and illegal sale of liquor against 58 persons, who were arrested. A total of Rs 1.49 lakh worth of liquor and beer have been seized from them.
4 held for stabbing man Police have arrested four people on the charges of murdering a person for riding on his two-wheeler repeatedly in the area. Extension police arrested the accused for allegedly eliminating Sumanth on March 18 at Gavenahalli Bypass Road.
According to superintendent of police Hariram Shankar, four persons were arrested for murdering Sumanth when he was riding his two-wheeler at Gavenahalli area.
Two persons stopped and questioned Sumanth for taking repeated rides in the area. Later, a clash broke out between them. However, two others joined the duo and assaulted Sumanth. One of them stabbed Sumanth with a knife on his chest, the superintendent of police said.
Following the incident, SP had formed a team to nab the accused. tnn
