NOIDA: Ahead of the festive season, police commissioner Lakshmi Singh and district magistrate Manish Verma held a peacekeeping meet with religious heads and residents’ representatives at the commissionerate office in Sector 108 on Tuesday.
Navratri and Ramzan are set to start from March 22. At the meeting, all religious heads and authorities were told to ensure the festivals are celebrated peacefully..
Lakshmi Singh also inspected some religious places. “The DCPs of all zones have been asked to intensify patrolling around major religious places while places where heavy footfall is likely during the festivals were inspected and necessary directives passed to officials concerned. If anyone is found making objectionable remarks against any religion, caste or person, inciting religious sentiments or trying to spread propaganda, strict legal action will be taken against them,” the CP said.
Officers will ensure tight security in crowded places by deploying adequate numbers of police personnel and monitoring the areas with CCTV cameras. “Traffic police have also been directed to ensure smooth traffic around such places during the festivals. We will not tolerate any untoward incident,” the CP said.
