Panaji: India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER) – Goa has signed a memorandum of understanding with New Delhi-based Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies.
The partnership will allow the exchange of students between the two institutes, and the development of joint training and research programmes.
Former vice-chancellor of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru R Venkata Rao, who was appointed as the new vice-chancellor of IIULER on March 14, signed the MoU.
IIULER, which is run by the Bar Council of India Trust, recently inked an agreement with UK’s Leeds Beckett University.
Rao also announced that the post graduate programme (LLM) has commenced with the orientation event for the first batch of LLM students being held on Tuesday.
He urged the LLM students to make judicious use of their time and to take a holistic approach to law.
IIULER started the academic year in December with undergraduate law courses. Chief Justice of India Justice D Y Chandrachud had inaugurated the first academic session of the IIULER- the second only such initiative of the Bar Council of India Trust after the NLSIU
Various research programmes including the PhD, diploma, certificate courses, and bridge courses will commence at IIULER in the coming months. The law university is currently operating from the Sancoale Kala Bhavan until its permanent complex at Dharbandora is built and ready for use.
