NOIDA: Residents of Greater Noida complained of civic mess across sectors following Monday evening’s showers. While mud from a temporary road clogging the sector drains led to water overflow on the road in Sector 3, in another block of the sector, a broken pipeline led to leakage of water on the road.
Clogged drains and untended waste also led to waterlogging on Kasna road while a mini pond was created near the connecting road between Chhalera and Sadarpur near the H block of Sector 44 in Noida. Construction and demolition (C&D) waste at many places added to the problem.
While Navin Kumar and Vivek Chauhan from Greater Noida’s Sector 3 complained about a broken water pipeline in B block leading to water leakage on the road, Ritvik Singh from the same block urged Greater Noida authority officials to fix the problem. “We have complained to GNIDA officials seeking immediate resolution to the problem,” Kumar said.
Manoj Chauhan, a resident of Sector 3, complained about a lot of debris under the ramp of C-276 which had flowed to the adjacent road along with rainwater after Monday showers. “One spell of rain results in a mess here. Many complaints have been raised by us for the removal of debris, cleaning of drains etc, but to no avail,” he said.
Raghuraj Bhati, a commuter on Kasna road, maintained that the lack of sanitation and untended garbage had clogged the drains along the road after Monday showers. “It is my request to the officials of the health department that after cleaning the Kasna road drains, the garbage placed on the road should also be picked up and not left unattended for days. There’s no proper cleaning in the area. As a result, the road, which connects to Surajpur, becomes muddy and waterlogged when it rains,” he said.
When contacted, technical supervisor water department GNIDA Sandeep Sagar noted the problem and sent labourers to fix the broken pipeline on Tuesday. Work to concretise the road is expected to begin soon, said a GNIDA staffer.
Meanwhile, in Noida, a waterlogged stretch between Chhalera and Sadarpur villages near H block of Sector 44 took the shape of a mini pond. “With all-around construction work and untended C&D waste, the situation turned worse after rain on Monday,” said Ranjan Tomar, member of village residents’ association.
Taking cognisance of residents’ complaints, staff from the authority began repair and sanitation work on Tuesday afternoon.
