MP inaugurates rejuvenated lake
Mangaluru: The rejuvenated Kavoor Kere was inaugurated by Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel on Tuesday. The MP said that the lake was developed keeping the local nature, culture and traditions alive, at a cost of Rs 9 crore, through the Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL).
“People have the habit of blaming India even when the world is praising the nation. People here also have the habit of talking and belittling Mangaluru, but based on my experience of travelling to various parts of the nation, I can say proudly that it is the most beautiful and clean city in India. The proactive role of the people’s representatives and officials led to the successful implementation of the project. All facilities have been developed, and walking track has been provided. The pond and ancient well of the Kavoor Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple have also been developed, along with the lake development. We are united when it comes to development, and there is no politics in it. The whole city has seen a sea of changes in the past few years. Development works worth Rs 2,000 crore have been taken up in the city,” he said, endorsing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing various schemes, including the Smart City Mission.
Modi wants to make India stand tall in front of the world, by providing basic infrastructure and ensuring internal security, he said, adding that between 2019 and 2023, the Modi government has given Rs 28,000 crore for various development works in Dakshina Kannada district.
A bypass road between BC Road and Mulki has been planned, and Vande Bharat Express train will be introduced to Mangaluru within a year, by solving technical issues, he said.
