2 sympathisers arrested in Samrala villages
Ludhiana: Khanna police on Monday arrested two persons from Samrala for allegedly supporting with pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh.
IG (Ludhiana range) Dr Kaustabh Sharma said two persons belonging to different villages in Samrala sub-division were Amritpal sympathisers and were trying to create problems.
He said a farmer in Jagraon area was allegedly planning to stage a protest at a toll plaza, but didn’t do so after police spoke to him.
A senior police officer said in Ludhiana rural area, police took out a flag march in Jagraon and Payal. He said besides, peace committee meetings were held in Ludhiana rural and Khanna.
During the meeting in Khanna, discussions were held with members of the peace committee to create awareness among people to maintain law and order and harmony, beware of rumours, fake news and hate speech.
During the meeting, participants of the peace committee also assured that they will appeal to people through political parties to maintain social harmony.
