Prayagraj: City Congress committee workers led by its president Pradeep Kumar Mishra on Monday staged demonstration on campus of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) against hike in water, sewer and house taxes.
“PMC authorities have increased house, water and sewer taxes in the name of development even though the
common man is deprived of basic civic facilities. The sanitation condition has turned from bad to worse in different pockets of the city, including posh colonies, and the mosquito menace was also giving sleepless nights to city residents,” Mishra alleged.
UPCC general secretary Mukund Tiwari said: “The poor condition of roads, broken drains, piles of garbage and defunct streetlights speaks volumes about the civic conditions of the city.
Congress leaders while handing over a memorandum to PMC authorities have demanded to roll back the hike and also bring out OTS (one time settlement) scheme to give a respite to house owners.tnn
