Governor Greg Abbott is getting backlash for wanting to hire government employees and academia on merit, not DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion). The governor is right. The best argument for merit is President Joe Biden’s government: Kamala, Kerine Jean Pierre, Mayorkas, Mayor Pete, Lloyd Austin. These people got their jobs on race and/or gender, not “know how” and they have all failed miserably. Left wing politics helps, too.
DEI looks good on paper, but in the real world, it doesn’t work. The board of the Silicon Valley Bank was all chosen because of their political leanings and huge donations to the Democratic party. None of them had any experience in banking or investing. We see how well that worked out. There are many LGBT people and minorities who qualify on merit, but in Biden’s world that isn’t important. And straight white males need not apply.
There are the Obama retreads like Ned Sullivan, Anthony Blinken, John Kerry and others who have no business in government. We see failure everywhere from the border, Afghanistan, inflation, COVID, banking regulators, baby formula, supply chain, Chinese balloons flying over our military installations, the Norfolk Southern train wreck, the war on fossil fuels, diplomacy -- the list goes on and on. We see what DEI is doing to our public schools. The United States ranks low in education on the world stage, although we spend much more money per student than other countries. Our weak diplomacy is another failure. Of course all the above is Donald Trump’s fault.
This country has much to answer for. We’ve made mistakes and must correct them. But when our children say, “Its not fair!” we tell them life isn’t fair. America did not become the greatest democracy in the world because of DEI, and DEI won’t save us now.
