Ludhiana: Talking to Rajya Sabh MP Sanjeev Arora, Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed that upgradation work would soon start at city’s railway station.
The two met in Delhi recently to discuss the project, and Arora said the new project would be a ‘game-changer’ for Ludhiana as the new station would have world-class infrastructure and best-in-class passenger facilities.
Arora informed that Rs 528.95 crore has been earmarked for the upgradation project, which would be completed by August 2, 2025.
Giving information about the work, Arora said, “The major works include additional entry from elevated road for smooth traffic flows, arrival and departure segregation in station area, and new multi-level car parking.
“In addition to these, the surface parking area will be spread in 1,30,000 square feet, and there will be a provision of proper second entry, and we will have iconic station buildings with green building certification. There will also be a 23ft-feet wide departure concourse with world-class amenities.”
