The WGC-Dell Technologies MatchPlay will be played between March 22 and March 29 at the Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas. It was established in 1899 and has been hosting Matchplay since 2016.
The tournament will be conducted in round-robin formats where 64 golfers will be divided into four seeded pools. The 16 groups will compete with the players in the group to advance over one another and qualify for the semi-finals and then for the final round.
The qualifications are based on the Official World Golf Rankings. The top 64 players in the OWGR are eligible to compete in the tournament. However, Justin Thomas and Justin Rose have withdrawn their names from playing this year.
Cameron Smith (5), Thomas Pieters (42), Harold Varner III (51), Dean Burnmester (71), Talor Gooch (49), Dustin Johnson (62), Jason Kokrak (74), Joaquin Niemann (26), Mito Pereira (50), Abraham Ancer (30), and Patrick Reed (65) were barred from playing in the tournament as they joined the LIV Golf.
