NAGPUR: Leading cardiologists, including one from a government college and hospital, found no real substance in city police’s plea for letting off a molester on the basis of a medical report which is two years old. The molester’s video thrashing a woman in Jaripatka had gone viral following which he was booked for molestation and other charges by Jaripatka police but let off with a notice.
The top brass of city police let off the man citing fear of custodial death during the C20 summit despite having thrashed the woman mercilessly on a road last week in front of his two-year-old son. A renowned cardiologist, on condition of anonymity, stated that the cops’ arbitrary decision on the possibility of a custodial death on the basis of a discharge summary issued in March 2021 after a two-day admission and angiography history can only be termed as a figment of their imagination without any expert views on the medical papers.
The medical report was from a private doctor furnished in March 2021 which cops did not refer to any government medical institution or board before extending their questionable discretionary relief to the molester booked for thrashing and verbally abusing a woman on Jaripatka Cement Road last week during a road rage. The women’s clothes too were torn in the melee, it’s learnt. According to a senior cardiologist from a government college, the medical analysis issued two years ago post angiography is irrelevant now until there is a specific complaint of chest pain again. “It’s a fact that the patient suffers from heart blockages but police are no competent authority to comment on it.
As the man was seen driving and then fighting with full gusto and so on makes it a fit case to put his medical papers under scrutiny than to arbitrarily predict a custodial death to set him free,” he said. Another cardiologist said the patient was discharged within two days of his admission in March 2021 and then suggested for a followup after 15 days with medication. “If it was at all an emergency situation then the bypass surgery would have been done two years ago itself. All his parameters were normal and he too was stable during the discharge as per the report,” said the cardiologist, adding, until there is chest pain or an aberration during ECG, there was no reason why police could not handle his case with due care for completing the legal formalities with suggestions from the court and medical board.
