Dacoits loot cash, jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh in Jhansi

JHANSI: In a second incident in a span of ten days around a dozen armed men looted house of a grocery owner on the intermittent night of 18/19 in Gursarai area of Jhansi district. The dacoits looted cash and jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh and thrashed the house owner and his son with the butt of the gun. Taking the matter seriously, ADG Kanpur zone Alok Singh visited the village to review the situation.
As per the details, the incident took place in village Khairo falling under police station Gursarai. Here Shreyansh Jain owns a grocery shop. At around 2.30 am, around a dozen masked men armed with guns barged into the house and attacked the family members.
They attacked Shreyansh and his son Sandeep with the butt of the gun injuring them. They took away Rs 15 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh. The dacoits even snatched the ornaments from the hands of the women members of the family.
Dacoits also snatched the mobile phones and threatened the victims with dire consequences if they lodge a complaint with the police. Senior police officials including DIG Jhansi range Jogendra Kumar and SSP Rajesh S along with field team reached the village for investigation. By the evening ADG Kanpur zone also reached.
As per SSP Jhansi, a FIR has been lodged against a dozen unknown persons under the section of dacoity. He also informed that five police teams including two COs and five SHOs have been formed to be headed by SP City to catch the culprits.
"We are investigating on all angles including personal enmity. The victim family has been living here for past seventy years. We have rounded up few suspects for interrogation and very soon will be able to solve the case".
Few days ago in a similar incident around half a dozen dacoits looted a family in village Durvai falling under Todi Fathepur police station and took away jewellery and cash worth Rs 15 lakh.
