A modified version of Exynos 2300 processor could power the Pixel 8

We did not see an Exynos SoC-powered Galaxy S series phone this year. The reason was pretty straightforward: the underperforming Exynos chipset wasn’t liked by anyone across the globe, and everyone wanted their hands on the Qualcomm version of the Galaxy S23 series phone. This rumor is expected to continue for the Galaxy S24 series, and there will be no Exynos-powered Galaxy S24 series device next year.

But at the back end of last year, it was reported that Samsung hasn’t entirely given up on the Exynos 2300, and it is rumored that the chipset could power the Pixel 8. Notably, a modified version of the Exynos 2300 could be used by Google for Tensor 3 SoC. The original Tensor was based on a modified version of the Exynos 2100, whereas the Tensor 2 was based on a modified version of the Exynos 2200. So, in line with tradition, the Tensor 3 could be based on a modified version of the Exynos 2300.

Google could switch to AMD GPU with its next-generation Tensor processor

Regarding the specifications of the Exynos 2300, ITHome has revealed that the chipset is codenamed ‘Quadra’ and has shared kernel information of the SoC. The original tweet has been taken down, though. The Exynos 2300 includes a Cortex-X3 high-performance core clocked at 3.09GHz. Four high-performance ARM Cortex-A715 cores will run at 2.65GHz. Moreover, it will also pack four power-efficiency ARM Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 2.10GHz. The Samsung Xclipse 930 is said to be the GPU inside Exynos 2300.

Google, on the other hand, is planning to launch the upcoming Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, and mid-range Pixel 7a models powered by the Exynos 2200-based Tensor 2 chipset. And it is apparently saving the Tensor 3 based on a modified version of the Exynos 2300 for the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro.

Galaxy S23 flagship makes it to the ARCore support list along with other models

Samsung had to wait quite a while for this, but finally, the Galaxy S23 series and a few other flagships have been welcomed into the ARCore support list. We don’t blame the Korean tech brand, however. After all, the list often lags far behind when it comes to inducting newly launched devices. So it’s not […]
