Kia showcased the EV9 concept at Auto Expo 2023. Now, the carmaker has debuted the production version of the all-electric SUV.
The Kia EV9 is based on the E-GMP platform and is the flagship EV in Kia’s global line-up. The SUV features a sharp-looking front fascia with a blanked-off grille and a vertical LED headlamp with integrated LED daytime running lights that follow the contours. It has similar LED tail lights, flush-fitting door handles and squared-off wheel arches sporting 21-inch wheels instead of the concept’s 23-inch alloys.
The interior of the EV9 looks modern and futuristic, much like the exterior. The dashboard has a clean design with a 4-spoke steering wheel and a large screen that houses the digital instrument cluster and the touchscreen infotainment system.
The EV9 is a 3-row SUV with captain seats in the second row, that can swivel 180 degrees. The third-row passengers also get a separate control panel for the climate control system.
The Kia EV9 is based on an 800V architecture. Kia hasn’t disclosed the full technical specs, but the company is targeting a maximum range of 543 km. The SUV is likely to be offered in single and dual-motor configurations. The dual-motor GT-Line S variant is estimated to hit 0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds.
Kia currently offers the EV6 in India. The carmaker hasn’t got any plans to introduce its full-size electric SUV in India for now.
