PATNA: A newfound craze among the women to get photographed with firearms and post their images on social media has alarmed the police. At least three women were recently found by the police posing with deadly weapons.
In the latest incident, a woman from Saharsa district was found posing with country-made firearms. This photograph has now gone viral on social media, prompting the police to order an investigation. Although her identity has not been established, police said the woman belongs to Suhath village under Sau Bazar police station.
"The picture appears very old. Anyway, we are trying to verify it," Saur Bazar police station in-charge Rajesh Kumar said over phone on Sunday. He added the woman would be arrested once the verification process completes.
Similarly, the Agamkuan police have quizzed Shweta Jha, a former Mrs India contestant who had also fought election for Patna mayor post. She too has caught the attention of the local police after her photographs with automatic weapons such as INSAS and AK-47 rifles went viral on social media. She was called for questioning on Saturday. Jha expressed annoyance at the way she was grilled by the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) sleuths though she committed no economic offences. The police are investigating the case.
In December last year, the photograph of a woman from Jamui district in the company of country-made firearms had hit the headlines. In the photograph which went viral on social media, the woman was found holding a revolver in her right hand.
