Madhya Pradesh: Heavy rain, hailstorm damage crops across fields; farmers demand compensation

Heavy damage to the crops was reported due to heavy rain and hailstorms in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal on March 19. Speaking to ANI, the farmers expressed their displeasure and demanded compensation from the Government. One of the farmers said, “Due to heavy rain and hailstorm, our crops in acres of land have been left damaged. We have a large family and are fully dependent on agriculture and labor work. The government should provide compensation for our loss.” Another said, “Crops in around 1.5 acres of land have been damaged due to heavy rain and hailstorm. The crops have collapsed due to heavy rain and hailstorm. I had also taken a loan for growing these crops. Government should help us and provide compensation.”
