Containment areas are now back in Surat

SURAT: Posters alerting residents about Covid-19 positive cases in the residential areas are once again visible in the city at multiple locations after the total number of positive cases has reached 56.
On Saturday, 12 new cases of Covid-19 were reported, of which 9 are from Surat city and three from the district. At present, 45 cases are active while three patients were discharged on Saturday. None of the patients have been hospitalized at present.
"On finding positive patient, we put up a signboard informing residents in the area about the presence of a Covid infected patient. This restricts movement of the patient and the family members and alerts other residents to follow Covid-appropriate guidelines," a health official told TOI. "The patients who are found positive do not have severe complications and are getting cured at home. These patients are being advised to stay isolated at home," the official said..
Around 350 to 500 people are being tested daily at the municipal facilities. The health officials are advising people to get tested in case of prolonged cold, cough and fever. Seasonal flu cases are also rising due to mixed weather.
