KOLKATA: Three persons - Rajesh Kewat, Raushan Kumar and Rahul Bandyopadhyay - have been arrested by cops for defrauding a 47-year-old woman from Titagarh twice.
In the first instance, the woman received a call from a man who asked her to activate a credit card to win a gift voucher worth Rs 4,000. She downloaded a screen-sharing app and lost Rs 25,000, cops said.
In the second instance, a person pretending to be a representative of the National Cyber Crime Reporting portal duped her of Rs 1,179.
"The accused allegedly told the complainant that the police station will not start an FIR but will only make a GD entry. They said they have their own cyber cell which can start the FIR for a payment of Rs 1,179. Thus, the woman was duped again, " an officer said.
