Lansing police: Man shoots himself while holstering handgun

LANSING — A man inadvertently shot himself while trying to holster a handgun on Saturday night, according to the Lansing Police Department.

The incident happened before midnight near West Jolly and Waverly roads, said Sgt. Kevin Schlagel.

The man had a concealed carry permit. No one else was injured so there was no crime committed, said Sgt. Kevin Schlagel.

"It was just poor gun safety," he said.

The man's mother called authorities, who gave the man treatment for injuries that are not expected to be life threatening, Schlagel said.
