THANE: A fire was reported in a private hospital located in a multi-storeyed building at Shil recently, civic officials informed.
Avinash Sawant, chief at the regional disaster management cell, Thane, informed that they received information about fire that sparked off from the inverter unit of the multi-speciality women and child care hospital located at Shil, Mumbra, around 11.35pm. The facility is operated from the first floor of a ground plus 17 storeyed building.
“A team from the Shil fire station immediately responded to the call and doused the fire within 30 minutes before it could spread elsewhere. There were no injuries and no evacuation of patients or residents from the structure was required,” he said.
Meanwhile, the hospital management has claimed there was no fire within the hospital premises but was triggered in the alternate power supply unit of the building elevator which probably got overheated.
