After an organisation dedicated to eliminating superstition in India, particularly in Maharastra, filed a complaint against Dhirendra Shastri, Mumbai Police issued a notice to the organisers in order to maintain law and order in the region.

Authorities have given a notice to the organisers of self-styled godman Dhirendra Shastri’s huge event in Mumbai in order to ensure law and order in the region after an organisation dedicated to battling superstition in India, particularly in Maharastra, filed a complaint against Shastri.

According to police, they received complaints from the Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, which advised Shastri and the organisers not to make any anti-religious remarks. If the police uncover “Baba” engaging in superstitious practises, they will take fast action.

Baba should never say anything that offends the feelings of any saint or religious belief in his court. It has been requested in the notification not to offend any religion or faith. “If any superstition is disseminated during the programme, the police will take action against the organisers,” the notice states.

Suresh Khandelwal, organiser of Baba Dhirendra Shastri Darbar said, To ensure discipline, all worshippers have been granted a pass. The police force has been mobilised, as have 100-150 bouncers. Over 2000 volunteers will be deployed during the darbar, and a CCTV camera will be placed. “We’ve made all of the plans,” he added. “The role of opponents is to oppose. They do and say things in order to gain attention. We are Hindus and Sanatans, and we believe in saints, but our opponents believe in opposing.”
