Panaji: A Rs 15 lakh transformer, a village library, and a sustainable garbage management solution are on the cards for the Honda panchayat after the directorate of panchayats held a grievance meeting with the villagers and offered remedies for the various issues plaguing its people.
“Our endeavour is to intervene wherever necessary to make matters easier for the people of the village,” said director of panchayats, Siddhi Harlankar.
At a recently held directorate of panchayats meeting, taluka-level issues were discussed, following which various panchayats in the state are being visited. On Sunday, after having a discussion with the people of Honda, the directorate of panchayats resolved to take up their issues.
“A garbage treatment plant will be set up in Honda soon. The panchayat will have to figure out how to fund a transformer. We have discussed the matter with the electricity department, and the file will be moved accordingly. We will either fund it for them through the Swacch Bharat mission or through the PWD,” she said.
For the library, the land is under dispute, owing to which the directorate of panchayats has decided to set up a library inside the premises of the new Honda panchayat building.
