CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: BJP state president Chandrashekar Bavankule's statement that his party will contest 240 seats, while Shiv Sena (Shinde camp) will contest 48 seats in the assembly elections has sparked war of words on Saturday, reports Mohammed Akhef. Chhatrapti Sambhajinagar west MLA Sanjay Shirsat minced no words in questioning Bawankule's stand and went on to ask "are we fools ?"
In the video, which has been shared on Twitter by legislative council's leader of opposition Ambadas Danve, Bawakule can be heard stating, "Whatever number of seats we bag (win) 150, 170 but we are considering to contest close to 240 seats, because Shinde (Eknath) has got 48. He does not have more than 50 people and so you people will have work very hard."
MLA Shirsath said, "Bawankule's statement does not have value. Nobody has given him the right to make such a statement. Making such statements will only cause differences in the alliance. To contest 48 seats or not, a meeting will be held at high-level and whatever decision has to be taken, will be taken."
Danve taunted Shinde camp and said that this is the value given to those claiming to take ahead the ideology and thoughts of Balasaheb Thackeray. "Now, Shinde camp might have realised why Uddhav Thackeray kicked BJP out," said Danve.
