Pakyong, 18 march : The company announced on Friday that its text-generating AI membership service is now available in the country, and it includes GPT-4, the recently launched streamlined AI model. Initially, OpenAI had a phased rollout of the paid subscription to users who signed up on the waitlist.

Now, the plan is available to all users, and subscribers can cancel anytime, according to the company.

ChatGPT Plus, which was released in the US in February, is now available in India as well, the company announced via Twitter on Friday. The premium chatbot service costs $20 (approximately Rs. 1,600) per month to subscribe and is accessible to ChatGPT users in India. Gadgets 360 was able to confirm that the subscription was available by logging in to the service. OpenAI has partnered with Stripe, which supports e-mandates for recurring payments, to facilitate payments as per RBI norms.

OpenAI still offers a free version of ChatGPT on its website, albeit with certain limitations. Users who do not wish to pay for access can continue to use the ChatGPT features.

OpenAI had initially created a waiting list for users interested in subscribing to ChatGPT Plus. However, the startup soon made the subscription model available to all users, as it seeks to monetize the viral success and widespread attention generated by its generative AI tools.

Recently, OpenAI launched GPT-4, which is “multimodal” in nature, meaning it can create content based on both image and text prompts. GPT-4 has shown significant improvements over its predecessor, with a 82% reduction in requests for prohibited content and a 40% increase in accuracy on certain fact-based tests.

The technology also allows developers to customize the tone and verbosity of their AI. For instance, GPT-4 can engage in Socratic dialogue and respond to queries with questions. This is a marked improvement from the previous version, which had a consistent tone and style. OpenAI has announced that ChatGPT users will soon be able to modify the tone and style of the chatbot’s responses as well.

The advanced text interaction capabilities of ChatGPT have generated significant interest from the general public, and OpenAI’s early investor Microsoft has agreed to incorporate the experience into its services. Competitors such as Baidu and Google have also begun developing similar conversational AI experiences.
