1.6kg gold seized at Mangaluru International Airport

MANGALURU: Customs at the Mangaluru International Airport have seized 1.6kg of gold valued at Rs 90 lakh, between March 1 to 15, from three passengers, including a baby girl, who arrived from Dubai.
Officials said that a male passenger smuggled gold by concealing it in paste form in the waistband of the trouser worn by him.
The other two passengers, include a man who had concealed gold in his rectum, and had made his 21-month-old daughter wear a diaper in which a pouch containing gold in paste form was hidden.
Cases have been registered and an investigation is in progress.
