ATK Mohun Bagan surged to their first-ever ISL glory after getting the better of Bengaluru FC in an enthralling final at
Fatorda stadium on Saturday night.

The win also marked the first-ever title triumph for coach Juan Ferrando, who is surely going to remain indebted to his boys for their wonderful display on the field throughout the tournament.

Among them will be two of Goa’s very own – Liston Colaco and Glan Martins – who made their mark in the all-important final, and the Spaniard was full of praise for them.

Speaking to the media during the post match conference, Juan said, I am happy for Glan and Liston as they won the trophy at home. I know Liston played here in Goa and Glan came from Sesa, Churchill Brothers, ATK, FC Goa and then ATK again, and now he lifts the trophy with us. I am happy for them, they’re my favourites.”

Liston was delighted with the addition of a new silverware to his cabinet

“When I was with FC Goa, I played the finals but lost and this is a new achievement for me to win the trophy. So I am excited to have the gold medal in my cabinet,” Liston said.

“Luck as well as God’s favour was on our side today and I would like to thank Him for having a wonderful season without injuries,” Liston said thanking the Almighty.

For Glan Martins, it wasn’t just about personal achievements. Winning the trophy in his hometown was a moment he would never forget. “I am very happy to come to my hometown and win the trophy. It’s an out of the world feeling.
The fans here are very supportive, and I am happy, and this is the best moment in my life,” an emotional Glan said.

The road to victory was not without its challenges, as Glan was subbed off mid way through the match. “When you are injured at the start of the first half, it is difficult for the player as I wanted to give more for the team but I couldn’t do it. It hurt me to be out, but I am happy because the team showed character and kept fighting no matter how many obstacles we faced we got through,” Glan said, proud of his team’s resilience.
