₹5k fine on throwing garbage in open
Kanpur: Now if one is caught throwing garbage in the open, Kanpur Municipal Corporation will impose a fine of Rs 5000 on him.
On the instruction of the government, KMC had started `Dastak Abhiyan' in January under which 258 open dumps were abolished.
Now, from the current month, a campaign has been started to take action against those found throwing garbage on roads, streets and empty plots.
Under the `Dastak Abhiyan', action has been started against people who throw garbage on roads and streets, said city health officer Amit Singh.
"Besides issuing challans, cases will be filed against people not giving garbage to municipal garbage vans. A meeting in this regard was held here on Wednesday in which instructions were given to the sanitary inspectors asking them to issue challans against those flouting orders and impose a fine of Rs 5000 on them," the official added.
A proposal has been sent to the government to increase resources for garbage collection, he added.
