HYDERABAD: Candidates who qualified for the group 1 prelims conducted on October 16, 2022 feel their months-long preparation has come to a naught owing to negligence on the part of Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC), which cancelled exam based on a report by the Special Investigation Team .
Thousands of unemployed youth, many of whom were preparing for the exam since last March, are a disappointed and frustrated lot. Many are asking what's the point of having a commission if the TSPSC is unable to conduct the first group 1 exam after the formation of Telangana state.
"It's very easy for the commission or the government to cancel the exam," said a candidate . "I had resigned from my job, began preparing since July and crossed first hurdle with exam. How is it fair to ask me or 25,000 other candidates, who cleared prelims, to start preparation all over again?"
The candidate said began preparing for the mains right since October and the TSPSC has now pressed the reset button after making a mistake. Some also pointed out that the TSPSC's decision to conduct a re-exam on June 11 is not right and it should give more time.
"There are candidates who re-joined their jobs after failing to clear the prelims. Many are busy preparing for mains. These people can't be expected to suddenly stop everything and switch back to prelims preparation at such a short notice," said another candidate, adding that prelims should be conducted in August.
Many raised apprehension that the group 1 recruitment process, including both prelims and mains, may not be completed until next year.
They said if the process is not completed before elections, irrespective of which government comes into power, chances of recruitment getting delayed are very high.
Meanwhile, protests against TSPSC and state government continued on Friday with several student organisations, including ABVP and AISF, staging dharnas. UoH students staged a protest at campus in support of
Bahujan Samaj Party leader RS Praveen Kumar, who has been protesting over paper leak.
