COIMBATORE: The city corporation has received more than 100 suggestions from the public to be included in the civic body's annual budget. The budget will be tabled in the council hall in a week or two.
On March 1, the corporation invited suggestions from the public. Residents can send their suggestions via https://coimbatoresmartcity.org/mycity-mybudget. The corporation announced that appropriate suggestions would be included in the budget.
The window to submit suggestions is still open. Corporation commissioner M Prathap told TOI that 106 suggestions were received. A booklet containing the suggestions has been created. "The corporation will include suggestions in its budget that can be implemented within the capacity of the civic body," he added.
Many suggestions pertained to controlling the dog population by setting up more animal birth control facilities. The other suggestions include relaying and widening roads to facilitate smooth traffic flow; measures to bring down road fatalities; and improvement of existing parks and creation of new parks.
There were also suggestions relating to the design of Semmozhi Poonga, which is coming up on the central prison land. Some suggested the creation of a western ring road and the expansion of Tidel Park. They would be forwarded to the relevant authorities, Prathap said.
Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar has convened a meeting with councillors, zonal chairpersons and committee heads on Thursday to discuss the budget. It is to be noted that the civic body held a meeting last year with residents, traders, and activists before the budget.
