Wall man sentenced to three years in prison for trying to lure a child online
FREEHOLD – A 2019 attempt by a Wall man to lure who he thought was a 14-year-old boy but turned out to be an investigator hunting for online predators got him three years in state prison Friday.
James Megill, 43, sentenced for endangering the welfare of a child by Superior Court Judge Marc C. Lemieux, will also face Megan's Law registration and will be under parole supervision for the rest of his life.
Megill contacted the user he thought was a 14-year-old high school student, sending sexually explicit messages and requesting nude photographs, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said in a statement.
The Wall Township Police Department, the prosecutor's office and its Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigated.
