Prove me wrong on Tipu, Addanda challenges retractors
Mysuru: Rangayana director Addanda C Cariappa alleged that Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan was a cruel ruler, who killed a leader by the name of Rangegowda from Malavalli in Mandya district by peeling his skin. What does this incident say about a king? he asked, hitting back at his detractors. Those who are attacking me for saying that Tipu was killed by Uri Gowda and Nanjegowda must prove me wrong with documents, he challenged. As per historical documents, nowhere the British have mentioned who killed Tipu. Uri Gowda and Nanjegowda are historical persons, he claimed. According to British officials, they only got the body of Tipu. They didn’t mention who killed him, he explained. Tipu was a 5 '3" tall person. For decades, children have been shown pictures of him killing a tiger. Who created this fake picture? Why was such a picture used in history books to mislead children, he questioned. He also took a dig at Congress party, claiming it was for using the Tipu issue for political gains. TNN
