A Mumbai-based designer, accused of allegedly offering bribe to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s wife Amruta Fadnavis, was remanded to police custody till March 21 by a court on Friday.

Amruta Fadnavis had filed a complaint on February 20 against the accused, Anishka Jaisinghani and her father for allegedly attempting to bribe her for intervening in a criminal case. The accused also threatened her, according to the complaint.

Police said an FIR was registered against Anishka and her father at the Malabar Hill Police Station according to which the accused was in touch with Amruta Fadnavis for the past 16 months, and also visited her home.

Amruta told the police that she met first the accused in November 2021. Anishka introduced herself as a designer of clothes, jewelry, and footwear, had requested the Depurty CM’s wife to wear her designs at public events which would help promote her brand and products.

As per the FIR, Anishka, after gaining Amruta’s trust, offered to give her information on some bookies through which they could make money. The accused then straight up offered Amruta Fadnavis Rs 1 crore to dismiss a police case against her father.

Upset over the turn of events, Amruta Fadnavis, blocked Anishka’s number. However, the accused woman allegedly then sent Amruta video clips, voice notes and text messages from an unknown number.

An official citing the FIR said Anishka and her father indirectly threatened and conspired against the BJP leader’s wife.

The police registered the FIR against Anishka and her father under Indian Penal Code sections 120-B (conspiracy) and the Prevention of Corruption Act sections pertaining to using corrupt and illegal means to induce a public servant to take a bribe.

The designer was arrested on Thursday where her father and co-accused in the case is still at large, said an official.

Manish Sisodia

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) don’t have any evidence, only “fabricated and malicious” stories against former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, AAP leader Raghav Chadha claimed on Friday.

Manish Sisodia has been arrested by the ED as part of its ongoing probe into a money laundering case linked to the purported Delhi excise policy scam case. A Delhi court today extended the senior AAP leader’s custody by five days after the ED sought more time to investigate charges against him.

Speaking at a presser, Chadha accused the BJP of engaging in “politics of revenge” which he claimed was the reason behind Sisodia’s arrest. He also claimed that the CBI and the ED don’t have any evidence against the former Deputy CM, adding that the probe agencies only questioned Sisodia for 15 hours during seven days of remand.

Chadha claimed said the BJP was “scared” of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He claimed that the probe agencies only have “concocted stories” against Sisodia, and when the CBI couldn’t find anything against him during their interrogation, they asked the ED to “frame more false cases.”

Raghav Chadha further alleged that central agencies only have “malicious and fabricated stories” against Sisodia but no evidence to back those up, adding that the only reason behind the interrogations by the ED and CBI to keep him in jail.

Manish Sisodia was arrested on March 9 by the ED while he was already lodged in Tihar jail in case against him by the CBI in connection with the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy case.

A Delhi court today extended the former Deputy CM’s custody by five days after the ED sought more time for investigating the charges.

The ED told the court that some vital information had come up during custody and he had to be confronted with the other accused.

When he reached the bride’s house, she refused to marry, stating that she can’t spend her life with a man doesn’t understand his responsibility. Not only this, the bride’s family also demanded the groom’s family to return the money spent on the wedding arrangements.

The bride’s relatives also held some of the groom’s relatives captive. The situation became so intense that the police had to interfere. The police arrived at the scene and managed to bring the situation under control and the matter was settled.

In a different instance, a groom from UP’s Kannauj called off his wedding after he felt that the bride’s 12th grades were not good enough.

The bride’s father claimed that he was informed that the groom’s reason for his withdrawal from the wedding is the bride’s poor marks in 12th. However, the father of the bride accused the groom of cancelling the wedding because he didn’t receive enough dowry.
