Kanpur: Amidst an euphoric ambience, the 57th edition of the IIT-Kanpur’s cultural festival- Antaragni, kicked off on Thursday.
The festival started with the opening ceremony at the Outreach Auditorium of the institute at around 4pm. Dean academic affairs professor Shalabh, ADSA (Associate Dean students affairs) professor Arnab Bhattacharya, ADHA (Associate Dean, Hostel Affairs) Professor Pratik Sen and ADHA and Festival Advisory Committee (FAC) member professor Vimal Kumar were present on the occasion.
The fest commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a classical dance performance on Ganesh Vandana. The faculty members gave inspirational talks to the participants and wished them luck for the four-day event. The inaugural ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
The theme of the festival this year is -’Houdini's Paradise,’ an oasis of entertainment, featuring something for everyone - from the thrilling Escape Room and Gaming Zone to the exhilarating Zorbing and Silent Disco, to the classic favourites Poker and Archery. Magicians Nikhil Raj and Siddharth Tyagi will also be a part of the fest attractions this year.
Antaragni will hold several events and competitions including debate, quiz, fashion, dance and music. Students from across the India will take part in the four-day long extravaganza.
