Chennai, parts of Tamil Nadu get more rains this week, forecasts IMD

Many localities in the core city like Nungambakkam, Choolaimedu, Arumbakkam, Anna Nagar, Aminjikarai, Royapettah, Virugambakkam and Ashok Pillar received intense spells of rain for nearly an hour in the morning. Some suburbs like Alwarthirunagar and Madhavaram got heavy spells.

Chennai on Friday received light to moderate rain in many areas bringing the temperatures down and leaving pleasant weather. Weathermen forecasted thunderstorms with moderate rainfall in the upcoming three hours across Chennai, Chengelpet, Kancheepuram, and Tiruvallur. Moreover, private forecasters said the parts of the city have chances of light to moderate spells of rain for at least three to 10 days starting from March 17.

Many localities in the core city like Nungambakkam, Choolaimedu, Arumbakkam, Anna Nagar, Aminjikarai, Royapettah, Virugambakkam and Ashok Pillar received intense spells of rain for nearly an hour in the morning. Some suburbs like Alwarthirunagar and Madhavaram got heavy spells.

“This is due to a trough/wind discontinuity from interior Tamil Nadu to Central Madhya Pradesh across Rayalaseema, Telangana and Vidarbha at 0.9km above mean sea level,” the IMD said.

As per IMD forecast, some places of Tamil Nadu are likely to see moderate rain, isolated thunderstorms and lightning till March 20.
