Thiruvananthapuram: A fast-track special court on Thursday sentenced a Pocso case accused to 40 years rigorous imprisonment, and also imposed a fine of Rs 60,000 for sexually abusing an 11 year-old-boy.
Madhu (48), alias Balan of Charuvila Puthanveedu, Chirayinkeezhu, was also ordered to undergo an additional jail term for two years in default of the payment.
In the order, judge Aaj Sudarshan stated that the accused deserves no mercy as an innocent boy was subjected to such a heinous crime.
The incident took place in 2020 when the boy was a class V student. The accused lured the boy offering food and chocolates to an isolated rubber plantation near his school. The boy was subjected to sexual abuse twice by the accused and was also threatened not to disclose it to anyone. Days later, the boy was taken to a hospital after he complained of pain on his private parts.
The doctors who attended him then raised suspicion that the boy was subjected to sexual assault. Following it, the boy was sent for counselling and he disclosed everything to the parents. It was revealed during the counselling that he was sexually assaulted by five others also offering food, chocolates and even drugs. On the basis of his statement, cases were registered and the trial on these cases is progressing.
On behalf of prosecution, special public prosecutor RS Vijay Mohan appeared before the court. The case was investigated by Chirayinkeezhu station house officer GB Mukesh. TNN
