KOLHAPUR: The Sangli police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly murdering his four-year-old daughter by throwing her in a well.
Annappa Koli — who is originally from the Solapur district — has been living in Sangli district’s Kurlap village, located along the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway 48, for the last few years.
On Tuesday night, Koli went out of the house with his daughter but returned alone. Koli’s brother filed a police complaint against him, and Koli was detained. He then confessed to throwing the child in a well. Police, eventually, found the child’s body floating in the well.
Police said the child has had an illness since the time she was born. Koli’s family, already under financial strain, was fimding it difficult to afford her treatment. Police said Koli is an alcoholic and was often rude to others. He has another daughter, who is two years old.
