An investment of nearly ₹190 crore is anticipated in the proposed power loom cluster at Mohammadpura in Burhanpur district in Madhya Pradesh under the central micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) ministry’s Micro & Small Enterprises - Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP). The estimated cost of development of the proposed cluster is ₹12.9 crore.Almost two-fifths of the cluster’s development is over and the project deadline is September this year, a top Indian English-language daily reported.
Burhanpur is a hub for looms with nearly 40,000 power loom units operating from homes, small rooms and in unorganised workshops in the city.
