Senate confirms Eric Garcetti as US envoy to India, key diplomatic seat filled after two years

President Joe Biden's right-hand-man Eric Garcetti on Wednesday was confirmed by the US Senate as the country's next ambassador to India. The key diplomatic position was laying vacant for more than two years. The US Senate voted 52-42 to confirm the nomination of Garcetti, reports said. The former Los Angeles mayor's nomination was pending before the US Congress since July 2021 when he the 52-year-old was nominated by Biden.
