Couple gets bail in sex racket case

Colva: Additional sessions court judge, Pooja C Kavlekar on Thursday granted bail to Prabhakar Gowda and his wife Sangita who were earlier arrested on charges of running a prostitution racket at their premises at Colva.
The prosecution case was based on a raid conducted by the crime branch on a guest house on March 9 where two victim girls were rescued.
The judge observed that the chargesheet does not reveal any allegation of inducement, procurement, confinement or living on the earnings of the prostitute against the duo.
“In respect of the accused Prabhakar Gowda, there is a leave and licence agreement indicating that the premises were licensed to him. However, in respect of the accused Sangita Gowda, there are no documents, except for the fact that she was found at the premises at the time the raid was conducted,” she observed.
